Lifespan

A key factor in determining the lifespan of LED strip lights is how hot they run. Higher operating temperatures will shorten the lifespan of each individual LED chip significantly. In fact, for every 10degC increase in the temperature of the junction – the point where electricity enters the chip – the lifetime is cut by half. Ask your supplier what their thermal management strategy is and how they keep the operating temperatures down to extend their lifetimes.

The quality of the materials used in each strip also has a major impact on how long they last. Look for high-density LEDs to ensure that the strips are bright without using too much power.
